ELMED Inaugurates State-of-the-Art R&D Fermentation Facility
Our new 2,400 sq. ft. R&D fermentation lab is now operational, doubling our strain development capacity and enabling faster time-to-prototype for contract manufacturing clients.
ELMED Life Sciences has officially inaugurated a new Research & Development fermentation facility at our Hyderabad campus. The 2,400 sq. ft. lab is equipped with a 12-vessel pilot fermentation suite, advanced anaerobic chambers, and high-throughput automated colony-counting systems.
What This Means for Contract Manufacturing Partners
The facility is designed to support clients from initial feasibility studies through to commercial scale-up, providing a seamless innovation pipeline.
- Custom strain development turnaround reduced from 16 weeks to 8 weeks
- Pilot-scale fermentation for new formulations before full production commitment
- Enhanced anaerobic culture capability for oxygen-sensitive organisms
- Dedicated stability chambers for accelerated shelf-life studies
Innovations in Development
The new facility will accelerate several ongoing programmes including next-generation psychobiotic formulations (gut-brain axis), heat-stable probiotic formats for high-temperature food applications, and multi-strain synbiotic combinations with prebiotic fibres.
